 DRESSED TO KILL began on Friday 13.09.1996. The Owner, Lyn Palfrey, pictured at the right, created the business, and began by making all the costumes herself, from her home in Modbury.
In 2001, she moved into her shop at Modbury North, where she remained until April 2009
Due to ill health and time in hospital, plus a damaged arm, Dressed to Kill has closed down it’s shop at Modbury and the hire section of the business.
WE now have 800 costumes & 200 new Bridal & Formal dresses for sale.
We will sell to individual persons or other Costume/Dance shops.
Discounts apply to COSTUME orders that are $500-00=5%, $1000-00=10%
Lyn has been learning to take photos & put them on the Website to help her customers.
With 800 costumes, It is going to take a little while to get them all up.
At Dressed To kill we have always taken great Pride in our Costumes, Bridal & Formal wares & service to our customers.
(Lyn has always washed every costume, wig and accessories after each hire, but can no longer do so.)
Costumes that we would have only hired before, are now for sale, as is all the Bridal, Formal and accessories
(To give you a guideline, re the difference in hiring versus buying, our minimum hire price for the last 5 years for adult costumes was $55.00 + $30.00 Bond.=$85.00 for you to take out. Top of the range Hiring prices ranged up to $90-00 & $90-00=$180-00. $90-00 Bond refunded when returned in good condition
We have the price of many of our costumes for sale as $85.00. Sometimes lower, sometimes higher. In many cases you are buying them for what it would have cost to hire them, but you get to keep them. You could always sell them on E-BAY afterwards )
We are still trading down at the Fishermen’s Wharf Markets at Port Adelaide every Sunday and on Public Holiday Monday’s, from 9am-5pm
Lyn started a stall at the markets in October 07 and added a large range of RETRO items to her stall. Many of them she made herself & wore in the 60's & 70's. Others have been collected over the years.
So many of my customers who come from Interstate tell me that "They just love my stall, & the Adelaide prices!!!"
Dressed To Kill is up the top, in the corner closest to the bridge & wharf.
By appointment only, times can be made to view some of the Costumes, Bridal & Formal at my home in Modbury.
